RECONSTRUCTION/MAINTENANCE
Every court degrades over time. Yet, with proper care and maintenance the life expectancy of the court increases. With older courts, sometimes simple repairs won’t suffice, and major reconstruction is necessary. Here at Universal, we give every court the individual attention it needs and will find the solution that works best for you and your court. Some of our services/solutions include:
PRESSURE WASHING
Sometimes a court may look like it needs to be resurfaced when in fact it is merely dirty. Our pressure washing technique cleans any dirt, mold, and debris from the court, often restoring the court's natural colors.
CRACK REPAIR
Depending on the size and amount of visible crack, crack repair can be an effective remedy:
- Remove weeds
- If necessary, grind crack down to match playing surface
- Fill exposed crack with sand
- Cap crack with a sand/cement (patch) slurry
- Sand patch to match with existing court
- Paint over repaired crack
PUDDLE PATCH
Low spots combined with poor drainage equal puddles. Puddles affect the quality of the surface and often result in the paint peeling away from the asphalt.
- Scrape peel area
- Fill puddle with sand/cement slurry
- Sand patch to match with existing court
- Paint over patched puddle
NET POST REPAIR
With improper installation or subsurface movement, net posts can shift or in some cases pop up from the asphalt. Fixing the damaged net post includes:
- Removing damaged net post
- Clean hole and dig to proper depth
- Install new netpost
RESURFACING/COLORING
Whether it is cracks, puddles, or simply faded color over years of wear - there will come a point that the court needs to be resurfaced. When resurfacing your court, we first use (as necessary) the aforementioned repair/maintenance techniques then color the entire court. Refer to the Surface Guide to see our coloring methods.
STONE OVERLAY
When the problems that plague the court extend beyond the surface, our stone overlay technique provides a solution.
- Fill crack and cover with Petrotac
- Install/repair net posts
- Cover court with layer of stone dust
- Pave over stone dust with Top mix grade asphalt
- Treat surface as new court and color court
TOTAL RECONSTRUCTION
If the court is in total disrepair, we recommend total reconstruction. This process eliminates possibility of structural problems returning and is the same as having a new court.
- Remove old net posts and fence
- Grind up existing court
- Pave asphalt Base
- Install net posts
- Pave asphalt Top
- Install Fence
- Color
